Facebook Jumping the Shark

Will the release of the movie about Facebook called The Social Network portend the beginning of the demise of the uber popular website just like the end of the TV show Happy Days was signaled by Fonzie jumping a shark on water skis?

 According to a current online survey on Vizu's Power Polls network, a slight majority of the respondents familiar with the phrase, "jump the shark," think Facebook will jump the shark about when The Social Network is released.  That would mean that Mark Zuckerberg might go t he way of The Fonz, i.e. become an icon of a bygone time.  Almost hard to imagine right now for the young billionaire CEO.  Then again, there are Friendster, MySpace, AOL, etc. to consider.

Mark Zuckerberg's Big Screen Debut in The Social Network a.k.a. Facebook - The Movie

The Social Network, the movie about Facebook, has attracted the cream of the Hollywood crop.  Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, Charlie Wilson's War, The West Wing, etc.) is the writer, David Fincher (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) will direct, and the movie will be produced by Scott Rudin and Michael De Luca in conjunction with Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey (Seven, American Beauty, etc.)  But the really important question is who will play Mark Zuckerberg, the young, imperious founder / CEO of Facebook.

A-listers Shia LaBeouf and Michael Cera are purportedly being considered for the part.  Who should it be?  Shia LaBeouf, the butt-kicking action hero heartthrob star of Transformers and Indiana Jones The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.?  Or Micheal Cera the likeable, but slightly dorky kid from Arrested Development who tried too hard to get laid in Superbad, but managed to get Juno pregnant?

According to an online opinion survey conducted on Vizu's Power Polls network, 56% of the respondents think Michael Cera would play Mark Zuckerberg best.  But who would play who best is not always the way decisions are made in Hollywood.

Gillette's animated viral video advertisement about how to shave your groin may or may not be appropriate for a brand of Gillette's stature depending on who you ask.  In an online survey recently conducted on Vizu's Power Polls network, perception of the video's appropriateness was split down the middle.  None the less, it is somewhat surprising to find Procter and Gamble at the cutting edge of advertising, so to speak.
