Kathy Griffin and Levi Johnston Messing Around

48 year old comedienne, Kathy Griffin, showed up at the Teen Choice Awards with Levi Johnson, Sarah Palin's daughter's baby's father, as her date.  Despite Johnston's flattering comments toward his date, "She's beautiful and funny," most people don't expect this relationship to go anywhere.  In fact, of those who expressed an opinion on a recent online survey on Vizu's Power Polls network, three times as many people don't think Levi Johnston and Kathy Griffin will become a real couple as those who do.

So was this a pure PR stunt or is one of them secretly longing for the other?  Maybe Kathy Griffin is just trying to position herself for a role or guest appearance in Courtney Cox's Cougar Town which airs later this month.

Facebook Jumping the Shark

Will the release of the movie about Facebook called The Social Network portend the beginning of the demise of the uber popular website just like the end of the TV show Happy Days was signaled by Fonzie jumping a shark on water skis?

 According to a current online survey on Vizu's Power Polls network, a slight majority of the respondents familiar with the phrase, "jump the shark," think Facebook will jump the shark about when The Social Network is released.  That would mean that Mark Zuckerberg might go t he way of The Fonz, i.e. become an icon of a bygone time.  Almost hard to imagine right now for the young billionaire CEO.  Then again, there are Friendster, MySpace, AOL, etc. to consider.

Society's Loss: Michael Jackson vs. Farrah Fawcett

 On June 25, 2009 America lost two major pop icons: the king of pop, Michael Jackson, and sex symbol, Farrah Fawcett.

Though Farrah's peak fame in the 1970's preceded Michael's stratospheric peak in the1980's, both Farrah and Michael managed to stay in the public's consciousness right up until the end.  Farrah did so via her very brave and very publicly documented fight against cancer, while Michael did so via a planned comeback tour and a Broadway musical.

Michael Jackson's death, however, was a bigger loss to society than was Farrah Fawcett's according to a recent online survey conducted on Vizu's Power Polls network.  In fact almost three times as many respondents said that Michael's demise was more of a loss than Farrah's.  

However, upon visual inspection of the vote map, it does not appear that the gap was as pronounced in the United States as it was in the rest of the world.  Perhaps this was because Farrah's sex appeal did not cross cultures as well as Michael's music did.  Or, perhaps, it was because of Michael's farcical existence over the last several years and the scandal surrounding his death.

Perez Hilton Not Helping the Gay Cause - LGBT Backlash

Perez Hilton, the self professed queen of all media, has been dishing juicy celebrity gossip for years. Now, however, the spotlight has turned on him, or, perhaps more accurately, he has turned the spotlight on himself and it is not too flattering.

While his position on gay marriage is consistent with the LGBT perspective, most members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community do not feel that Perez Hilton is doing their cause any good as a spokesperson.

According to a current poll being conducted on the PlanetOut website, almost 90% of the 1639 respondents to date say that Perez Hilton is "a terrrible representative of our community."

Celebrity Governors - Val Kilmer & Tim McGraw

They may not be any match for Arnold Schwarzenegger, a.k.a. the Governator, in terms of raw celebrity, but Tim McGraw and Val Kilmer have been mentioned as potential candidates for governor in their respective states: Tennessee and New Mexico.

In a pair of public opinion polls conducted on the Vizu Power Polls network, respondents think actor Val Kilmer would make a better governor than singer Tim McGraw.

Of the two, Val Kilmer seems to be the more likely candidate at this point given that he recently signed a PR firm to handle media and communications for his potential gubernatorial bid.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck Made for Fox News

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is clearly one of the most famous participants of the Survivor reality series.  On The View, the often takes the conservative stance on issues, though she claims that she is neither conservative or liberal which just might maker her a reasonable candidate for a position on Fox News.

Despite rumors this fall that Elisabeth Hasselbeck might be leaving The View for a position as an anchor on Fox News, Hasselbeck's publicist confirmed that she is not leaving the female talk show.

Further complicating Elisabeth's shot at an anchor slot on Fox News was a Zogby poll that recently concluded that Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Stephen Colbert and Chris Matthews were the least trusted news personalities, all scoring under 2%.  Fox News on the other hand was the most trusted source of news scoring 39.3%.

Despite all the controversy, more than 60% of the respondents who had an opinion in a recent Vizu Answers research poll thought that Elisabeth Hasselbeck would be a good personality on Fox News.

Sean Penn Milking Hugo Chavez or Visa Versa?

Sean Penn is being applauded for his portrayal of the liberal San Francisco councilman, Harvey Milk, in his new movie Milk, but the politics of paling around with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez turns peoples' stomachs.

Whatever the motivation for the relationship, both parties seem to be milking it for publicity.

In a recent public opinion poll conducted on the Vizu Answers research network, almost two thirds of the respondents say that it is uncool for Sean to hang with Hugo.

Will Farrell vs. Josh Brolin as George W. Bush

Actor Josh Brolin plays George W. Bush in the film W.  Comedian Will Ferrell recent revived his George W. Bush impersonation for Saturday Night Live during the elections.

So who is a better Bush?  Straight man Josh Brolin or funny man Will Ferrell?

In a recent public opinion poll on the Vizu Answers research network, respondents gave the not do Will Ferrell who received a slight majority of the votes.

Fans of Will Ferrell as GW will have an opportunity to see more of him in a one man show, You're Welcome America. A Final Night With George W. Bush, in January of 2009, just after W leaves office.

Madonna and Alex Rodriguez Relationship Re-ignites

Well is sure did not take long for Madonna to hook back up with Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) once the news of her impending divorce from Guy Richie became public.

This was no surprise to about two out of three people with an opinion on the subject who participated in a recent public opinion poll on the Vizu Answers research network.  Participants in another Vizu Answers poll already predicted back in May that 2009 was the most likely year for a Madonna - Guy Richie divorce.

The New York Post reported that the Madge and A-Rod hook up at the Seinfeld mansion in the Hamptons was like a scene out of James Bond involving helicopters, sports cars, black SUV's, and the celebrities themselves.

Obama's Celebrity Outshines Tina Fey's

Britney Spears may be a bigger celebrity than Barack Obama, but Barack is a bigger celebrity than 30 Rock and SNL celebrity Tina Fey. 

Even though Fey has had a heyday impersonating Sarah Palin and bringing SNL's ratings to their highest point in years, Fey's celebrity is no match for that of her choice for president according to a recent public opinion poll conducted on the Vizu Answers research network.
