Osama bin Ladin is dead, or as President Obama put it, bin Laden has "been brought to justice." The U.S. has been hunting for Osama bin Laden since 1998 when President Clinton issued the order to kill or capture the mastermind terrorist head of al Quaida who has been hiding out in Pakistan. President Obama even made Osama bin Laden the number one priority in the U.S.'s fight against al Qaida.
Are the thirteen years (almost 10 since the 9/11 attack) it took to bring Osama bin Laden to justice a triumph or a failure of U.S. intelligence, diplomacy, and military action?

Well, I wish they had caught him earlier, I think they could have but at this point it's water under the bridge. At least they got him.

With all of the technology we have now how did he elude us for so long? I think they kept the war going for personal gain.

Him being dead isn't necessarily the success. Hurt people is though.

It would have been a 'success' if so many people had not died- how many lives did we lose to catch one man?

Honestly it just saddens me to even think about his name...all of the people who suffered, Americans and others. :(
