With Beyonce Knowles probably out of the running due to her mention of Tina Turner as the "Queen," Halle Berry has been asked to play Aretha Franklin in a biopic about the Queen of Soul. (Beyonce has already played Etta James.)
Aretha is happy about the casting decision and has said that Halle was her first choice. Maybe Halle should take some singing lessons from Jamie Fox who nailed his peformance of another vocal legend, Ray Charles, in the 2004 movie Ray.

I think it is unfortunate when a journal commissions the writer of a competitive book to write a review.
I have not read Morozov's book but have read Jarvis's (which I think is interesting and thought provoking but not great) and Morozov's review.

If the Arethra wants Hally to play her than who are we to say that it's a bad choice, after all Arethra would have the most in depth understanding of what kind of person she is and who is best to play her.

I bet Halle could sing, anyone can sing with a little practice- and a good editor/mixer and all the programs we have now.

When did Beyonce play Etta James? Was it in that movie about that recording studio back in the 60s? Cadillac Records? I think that was the name

If not Halle then who else could play her? Maybe Jennifer Hudson or some unknown actress?
