Frank Zappa kicked off the penchant celebrities seem to have regarding giving their children strange names when he named his kids Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeeen in the late 60's and 70's. Demi Moore and Bruce Willis jumped on the band wagon in the late 80's and early 90s when they named their kids Rumer, Scout LaRue, and Tallulah Belle. More recently the Brangelina dynasty has kept the trend alive.
Now it is almost seems novel when a celebrity couple gives their child a traditional name. In 2008 alone we were introduced to Knox Leon (Brangelina), Bronx Mowgli (Ashley Simpson), Harlow Winter Kate (Nicole Ritchie), Nahla Ariela (Halle Berry), and Zuma Nesta Rock (Gwen Stefani).
In the end, however, it was not contest as to which baby name was the strangest in 2008. According to a recent poll conducted on the Vizu Answers market research network, Zuma Nest Rock takes the cake as the strangest baby name of 2008 with almost 50% of the vote.
Feel free to comment below if you think there are other celebrity baby names that should have been taken into account.

Gwen's baby's name is really the strangest of all. Good thing those celebrities are not my parents. =)
