Julianne Hough to fall for Apolo Anton Ohno?

Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno are racking up the points on Dancing with the Stars, but are they scoring with each other? 

Eighteen year old Julianne Hough grew up in Utah where Apolo Anon Ohno won two speed skating medals in the 2002 winter Olympics when Julianne was only thirteen years old.  Since then, Apolo Anton Ohno went on to win additional medals at the 2006 winter Olympics in Turin, Italy.  Meanwhile, Julianne went to high school, graduated, and moved to LA to pursue a career in singing, acting, and dancing.

Hough and Anton Ohno both showed extremely early dedication to their respective careers and made similar sacrifices.  Julianne moved to London at the tender age of ten to study dancing.  For his part, twenty five year old Anton Ohno, moved from his home in Seattle to the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center to train for short track speed skating at the ripe old age of fourteen.

Those early sacrifices seemed to pay off handsomely for the beautiful couple.  Aside from Anton Ohno's accomplishments in the Olympics, he has won eight U.S. National titles.  Just last month, he won three bronze medals and a gold at the world speed skating championships held in Milan, Italy.  Ms. Hough, on the other hand, became the youngest and only American to become both the Junior Blackpool World Latin Champion and International Youth Champion.

Almost seems like Julianne and Apolo were made for each other, and on the dance floor it even looks that way.

It's confirmed Julianne has called off her engagement for now. She'd have been a fool to get married at 18 when her career that she worked so hard for is taking off in full force! Apolo is getting better and better as a dancer each week too. Realistically, it must be hard for her fiancee to watch her jetsetting with Apolo for all his competitions too - she went with him to Milan and then the Wash Correspondents Dinner and then another place where she had on a halter top. In fairness, her boyfriend went with her when Apolo was inducted into the Asian Hall of Fame.

My guess is that Apolo did not want to be responsible for the breakup because he is too kind and honest. If she and her boyfriend break up for their own reasons, perhaps they will date. The chemistry is red hot and there.....they are both young and 7 years is no difference at all people! Her fiancee is the same age as Apolo first off.....second, she looks and acts older and Apolo looks younger so they balance each other out. There are men that marry women 20-30 years younger.

Apolo was on Extra last night looking for love - he's the most eligible bachelor and maybe when Julianne sees he is putting himself out there she might go in for the kill - she wouldn't want someone else to swipe him up before she gets him ....once you realize someone is no longer available, then the claws come out and she just might get territorial... no one really knows! Julianne Hough is a master at the quickstep on Dancing with the Stars – but she's taking her romance slow.

Hough, 18, who is Apolo Ohno's partner on the reality show, has postponed her planned Aug. 8 wedding to former dancer Zach Wilson.

So does that mean she's free to date (say ... a certain sexy speed skater)? "No!" Hough tells PEOPLE. "[Zach and I] are still together. We just want [more time] before we get married. It's all good!"

The couple had planned to tie the knot in Mormon ceremony in Utah this summer. But Hough says she's so busy with the show that they decided to take some time.

For now, Hough is concentrating on Dancing as the competition heats up. After Billy Ray Cyrus was booted from the show on Tuesday, Hough wiped away tears and said: "It gets harder as all these people leave."

The end of the engagement was first reported by TV's Extra.

Hey Les: How about you don't go around "guessing" about things you don't know. Mormons aren't encouraged to get married young and have lots of babies. They ARE encourged to have families and they can start whenever they want. Missionaries are only encouraged to start families when they get home (which is usually 21) but it is not a commandment. And there is depression ALL OVER the country - but statistically Utah women have a higher use of anti-depressants. I don't agree that the use of these should be so common but it is not a direct cause of being a Mormon. I completely agree with you. How could they give Joey a perfect score on his jive when he very obviously lost his place with the footwork in the middle of it? And then he gets the encore? (He didn't mess that up)
He is very entertaining and puts his heart into it. Laila is boring...she wants to win, because she's a champion but she really doesn't put a lot of enery or spark into it. Apolo and Julianne have consistently gone for it. The choreography Julianne designs are always challenging and set the bar for the other couples week after week. And Apolo goes for it. The Samba is a perfect example and their Paso was the best I've seen on this show in any season (even better than Drew, yes!)
If he doesn't take it all, there is no justice. But look what happened to Stacey Keibler....that girl could dance and it should have been her and Drew in the finals, not Jerry Rice.

Regarding all the comments based on religion and that LDS people are depressed and have so many kids and that is why they are depressed. Depression is a choice! People choose to be happy no matter what life gives them or to be depressed. It's a world wide disease no matter what religion a person may or may not be. It doesn't matter. LDS people are not forced to get married and have a bunch of children, again that is a choice that any person makes! Just because someone is LDS doesnt mean at all that they are forced to marry young and have a lot of children right away! That is a very false statement! LDS people have their free agency just like anyone else they can make choices to on what they want for their lives.

Yes Julianne is LDS (mormon) she went to Alta High School in Sandy, Utah. She has 4 biological siblings, Sharee Wise, Marabeth Poole, Katherine Hough, and Derek Hough. Her parents MaryAnne and Bruce got divorced when she was about 10 years old. Her mother re-married and moved to Las Vegas, her father remarried and now resided in Sandy, Utah. Apolo and Julianne truly deserved to be the winners of Dancing With The Stars..they were really dedicated to this contest and truly worked very hard. All the dance routines were beautifully executed.Apolo sure looked like a professional dancer out there on the dance floor. If no one knew that he was an Olympic gold medalist, he would been mistakenly thought as a professional dancer! Give Julianne alot of credit, patience, and diligence in helping Apolo bring his dancing talent out in the open..the dancing talent Apolo did not even realized that it existed within him.

Viewers are very observant and they analyze things with a very fine toothed comb when these two are out there. The viewers are very much accurate in their opinions in what they have observed about their strong chemistry even though Apolo and Julianne keep denying any romance. When very strong chemistry oozes out between the two, it really shows in their dances. They cannot fake it. There is the strong magnetism and attraction coming out between the two and it shows during rehearsals and on the dance floor.

At the end, she says something like "he doesn't like blond hair" like a joke, but I think it's true. His former girlfriend was a brunette. That's one small reason why he hasn't hit on her. Hope I didn't come across like I was criticizing Julianne in my last post. I really like her for her strength, discipline and zest for life. She's mature for her age. First off, I want to say I'm a huge Apolianne fan for sure (www.apolianne.com),and if it is meant to be between them, it will be. Fate is funny that way -it brought them together FOR A REASON. We just don't know what that reason is.

I recently heard that ABC is trying to give Julianne her own show - they are not sure what but they were "smitten" by her (per the article in the enquirer (9 times out of 10 the rag sheet is very accurate -Mike Walker posted it). At any rate, how could they not be?

In fairness, I don't think we should judge her ex-fiance Zach Wilson. We have no idea what he is like, and remember Julianne has known him since she was 9 years old. Familiarity, however, does breed contempt. I think it must be so difficult for him right now knowing the entire country is rooting for his girlfriend and her dance partner! I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. As for going to dental school at 25, that is NOT unusual. Many people decide to wait before going into a serious profession, and he did dance for awhile. My husband did his master's at age 25 - no big deal and a friend of mine graduated with a law degree, worked for a while, and then at age 28 decided she wanted to go to med school - she did and is now doing her rotations. Life is the way it is and he shouldn't be condemned for that. I don't think long term it will last between them. He said he is moving to LA to be with Julianne and will apply to dental school there. I'm not so sure that was a wise decision given Julianne will be on tour over the summer and is, I'm sure, entertaining offers as fast as she can keep up with them. I read that she is searched more on the internet than angelina jolie! Now that's impressive.

As for Asian awards, Zach was there with her. There is a picture of Julianne with Zach and Apolo and his family as well as Julianne's parents. I don't think Apolo would want to her the poor guy so I think he is probably honest when he says they have a professional relationship. He is leaving it to Julianne to work out.

Before Apolo was on the show, he did state to his friends (and it was posted on the web), that he did not like blondes and julianne was not his type (whatever that is)...his other 2 girlfriends were brunettes. However, there was a video posted on you tube of him coming out of Mr. Chow's in Beverly HIlls last week with a bald man in his 30's maybe, and a blonde. At first i thought it was julianne, but it wasn't. when they got in Apolo's SUV, she sat in the back - no one knows who this gal was.

The other thing that disturbs me is what Joey FAtone said about Apolo on the howard stern radio program. It was totally out of line and disgusting and he should be ashamed of himself - you can google that because the words are just too inappropriate to post. I am an Asian origin. Both Apolo and Julianne won the hearts of both American and Asian communities. I think Apolo and the Asian community make Julianne feel so welcome...they are doing a great job. Both Apolo and Julianne looked very happy and looked like "Mr and Mrs. Cute Couple" like Apolo said one time in one of his pre-recorded DWTS interview.

Enjoyed watching the finale of Dancing With The Stars and Apolo and Julianne definitely deserved to be the champions!

Am Asian-Spanish descent and am very proud that Apolo and the Asian community have exposed Julianne to the Asian heritage by inviting her to attend the new AZN Asian Excellence Award recently...believe it was held on May 28, 2007.

Winning the competition certainly gave Julianne an extra added boost to her career. By being on the Dancing With The Stars, viewers and entertainment big wigs started to notice her! If I were in her shoes, I definitely would not get married at a such young age. I definitely worked hard on my career, experience life more, just see the world, and just enjoy life until she feels she is ready to settle down!

She should learn some things from Apolo and his competitive spirit. He is out there and savoring everything that comes his way. He was so skeptical about joining the show but with his competitive spirit, Apolo joined the Dancing With The Stars just to see how far he will go! He was not afraid to try it. He knew he was not a dancer and the dancing itself was totally totally out of his element. Let's face he was a speed skater for many years.

In one of his interviews, Apolo stated that he was very happy to have joined the tv show Dancing With The Stars. He discovered another side of his personality...he was able to laugh, be outgoing, and kid around with people. He stated that for many years that he had to be poker faced...stone faced as a speed skater. He could not emote any emotions whereas, in Dancing With The Stars, Apolo had to learn facial expressions and also smile alot...otherwise, you will never make it to the finals.

If Apolo and Julianne ever get together as a married couple, they will absolutely have the most beautiful children! Their children might end up being very talented and athletic!

I just get so tingly happy when looking at the pictures of Apolo and Julianne. I admit they are the most beautiful looking couple...they just really look they belong together. It is like God put the true soulmates together finally!

I have read in so many form about these two couple are like a match made in heaven and I seriously agree with everyone. But there are so much complication between the two that you wonder will they be together like J already have a b/f that she going to marry and A going to be spending his next 3 year training for the Olympic. So it hard to see how they going to bond together with this wall between them, but then love is stronger then anything and if that is so, then these two will find a way to break the wall down and get together because they are perfect the perfect pair of people I have ever seen.

I saw the video YouTube "Apolo and Julianne Touch" and you are seeing a beautiful story of two young people bonding very close. It was like a beautiful love story.

I agree with Annie that there are obstacles that need to be overcome. It is so sad that Julianne was so hung up with this Zach guy at such a young age and not allow herself to meet other people. She had Apolo for a short time in which something could have blossomed. Unfortunately, she did not give herself and Apolo a chance to really get to know each other. Maybe, the three years Apolo would be in the Olympic training, Julianne would also be working on her career. This Zach guy was the BIG OBSTACLE for these two young people in really getting to know each other. Like I said all along I feel Julianne really cheated herself in getting to know a better man who was dancing with her every week!

Cannot understand why she was such in hurry to get engaged when she has known what she wanted to be since she was 10 years old and worked very hard. And now, she is now on the verge of becoming successful, she is thinking about settling down? It would be the biggest mistake she will make...when she gets old, Julianne will regret why she did not pursue some of the things she always wanted to do. God had helped her win Dancing With The Stars so she can pursue her dreams! I agree that love is stronger and may breakdown all the barriers.
People know that Apolo and Julianne are just the perfect pair because you can see in all the videos of them. I hope she will wise up and realize that she has so many things to accomplish right now in order to succeed in her career.

Julianne does not have a real big fan base yet but Apolo does. Since he knows so many people, Apolo could have helped her get her career off the ground.

One thing that touch me about Apolo is he is so humble and does alot of things to help kids in the communities/charities. He tries to inspire kids in a positive way. He is not flashy .. appears to be a simple man. He does not appear to be pompous or arrogant when you see him speak on TV. I guess that is why people have deep admiration and love for this young man.
