BORAT: YOU DECIDE... HOW FUNNY IS HE?

Meet Borat...

America has a long tradition of warmly embracing entertainers who are smart, witty, funny, and sometimes, a bit idiotic. For instance, America has fallen in love with  [in reverse order according to intelligence]:

• Cartman
• Andy Kaufman
• Homer Simpson
• Stephen Colbert
• Jon Stewart
• you get the idea...

Hence, it should be of little surprise that BORAT, a character spawned from HBO's Da Ali G Show has become a new cultural icon. The irony, of course, is that the entire premise of Borat's character is to "expose the ignorant, racist, misogynist, gay-bashing, Jew-hating, gun-loving, warmongering heart of America" [source].

Borat's movie, subtitled Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, lands in theaters next week. The Rolling Stone reports:

Borat: a smiling, shamelessly offensive TV reporter from Kazakhstan who takes pride that his sister is "the number-four prostitute in all of country" where a ritual -- "the running of the Jew" -- is celebrated every year ("There you go, kids, crush that Jew egg before it hatches").

A couple scenes of the movie, described:

• At a gun store he asks the owner for the best gun for killing Jews and is told that a 9mm or a 45 will do just fine.

• Terrified at having to sleep overnight at the home of a kindly Jewish couple, Borat believes that two cockroaches crawling under the door are the Jews transformed. To make them go away, he throws money at them.

• [At a] classy dinner party down South [Borat] is taught the formal art of toilet training and at a feminists [meeting]" Borat, explains the "well-known fact that in Kazakhstan the brain of a woman is the size of a squirrel's.

With that being said, love for Borat is NOT universal. He's managed to piss off the entire country of Kazakhstan [visit STOPBORAT.COM by clicking, here] and even some Americans! Here's some of his most notorious footage... are you offended?

Borat is T-I-G-H-T! I don't what you're talking about... if anything, comparing him to Robin Williams is a compliment. Robin Williams' "Live on Broadway" has to be one of the funniest stand-up routines ever! That being said, he and Borat, are in two very different leagues. Both are very funny comedians, but Borat has taken the profession to a new realm: revealing the inner nature of the American beast...
